I am always excited to find research that may provide differential diagnostic leads that have potential to match clients with the appropriate therapy approaches available. Your research also points out the value of paying close attention to our clients' narratives in providing us these sorts of clues.

Your conclusion suggests, "It is possible that these forms of therapy [stress-inoculation, cognitive restructuring, and staged exposure] are therapies of choice for stutterers who experience petite mort, while control-based therapies are more appropriate for those whose stuttering is not accompanied by dissociation." What further research do you suggest needs to be done to support this interesting hypothesis?
