Hi Lou,

I enjoyed reading this short description of your work. We have discussed this before in reference to the difficulty of applying any fluency techniques during such episodes. The idea of selecting treatment methods that are oriented toward cognitive restructuring is a good one that bears further investigation, as you discussed in your response to Judy's post. It is certainly consistent, as you say, with methods used to successfully treat other disorders that involve dissociative components. The use of self-talk, suggested in reply to Bernie, is one of a number of methods that may, indeed, serve to assist people who experience la petit mort.

Measuring progress in reference to episodes of dissociation could take the form of either a reduction in the 'degree' of dissociation, as well as in the number of episodes. Are the clusters you mention in the article organized in any way as a heirarchy of severity, or is there some other ways in which severity of the experiences have been or might be measured?

Thanks.

Lynne
