This is a real chicken and the egg question and one that we have debated endlessly. I think if I had NOT stuttered, yes, certain aspects of my life would be different, but I'm not sure if my core being would be much different. Certainly I would not have met nearly as many WONDERFUL people as I have, and I wouldn't trade them for all the fluency in the world.
Focus in my life? Yeah, I think the overall focus would have been quite similar. College graduate with EE and MBA degrees, married for 38 years to the same wonderful wife, two spectacular grown children, two (almost three!) grandchildren, rewarding career... Man, I really couldn't ask for much more.
Same place? Probably not, at least in respect to speaking. I doubt if I would have joined Toastmasters because I wouldn't have been pushed (and I respond to pushing!) and I wouldn't have nearly as much to prove. But what would have taken its place? Fishing and drinking beer on the weekends? Don't I wish! <smile>
Patience? Probably not, but I really don't know. That's the toughest of your three questions to answer.
