Howdy, Russ -------
Many years ago, I head this: "When you are up to your *** in alligators, it is important to remember that your original intent was merely do drain the swamp."
As I read your article, I was thinking about this. I think that sometimes, we try too hard to "facilitate" a meeting, and to the extent we do, we overprepare and (almost) have a tendency to micro-manage the meeting. As I think back to some of the most successful meetings I have attended, whether related to stuttering or some other topic, the facilitator or moderator did not really give the impression of trying to hard -- but rather, tossed out the chickens and let things happen.
There are of course some people in all groups, both PWS and No-PWS, who are verbally reluctant to participate, and so far as I know, NSA Chapters tend to allow for this.
It is reassuring to know that I now have a lengthy list of topics in my bag of chickens to toss out to the hungry alligators.
Thanks for sharing your pearls of wisdom, Russ. They are very much appreciated.
