Chris, thanks for taking the time to respond as well. My client actually spends half of his therapy session with another client who stutters. The clinician and I are trying to encourage a friendship among two "stutters" so they can discuss feelings, attitudes, and what "works" for them when they stutter. Unfortunately, my client is very fluent, unlike the other client, and he is an introvert, unlike the other client. I have tried what I thought would be stressful situations with my client like (making a phone call to obtain information, asking a stranger in the clinic for materials, and I even had my supervisor bombard him with questions that required immediate responses). Through all these activities, my client maintained his fluency. Although he demonstrated postponements and interjections within those situations. I've been working on having him tell stories. Now I'm going to begin to ask more specific questions, requiring my client to answer with specific answers, thanks for that idea! Any other suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your response.
