Emad,

Thank you for participating in this important subject and for your complimentary support. You're so right in that we need to focus on teenagers, adolescents and young adults to help them understand the power in becoming a self-advocate for their stuttering instead of living in silent shame and fear. Once someone begins to take that route, it doesn't necessarily mean that all their problems are over or that the pressure from the fear of consequences will never go away, but simply means that they have options to understand and defeat the impact the fear has on their lives every day.

I know Dr. Hood suggested some excellent websites for teenagers. I also suggest that a teenager can begin to establish a routine e-mail connection with several in their own age group through such groups as the NSA, The Stuttering Home Page, Stutt-L, etc. to learn who else is dealing with the same issues they are. It's a great way to get practical advice AND constant support with frequent challenge and pressures.

Thanks again and good luck!

Chris
