I agree wholeheartedly. I have said for many a day that the fluent world is largely disfluent. Most of us are so caught up with worrying about our speech, we have a tendency not to listen to the speech of others. As I tell people in our support group meetings; close your eyes and listen to a conversation between "fluenters" (try not to do this while your driving, though.)Listen to all of their repititions, pauses, umms, and ahhhs. They don't have as many as we do, of course, but they do have their fair share. We just hold ourselves's up to a higher level than we do others. And I think it's most unfair to our ownselves's that we do so. Thanks for your article.
