Dear Gina, Thank you for your comments. I remember treating a 12 year old boy whose parents thought that that his stuttering was not an issue for him (since he never talked about his speech and seemed ok with it). When he drew his picture, he represented himself lying on a table with chains around his wrists, ankles and stomach and crying out "help." The drawing became the focal point for very meaningful and honest discussions in therapy for this youngster and his family. So, in answer to your question, I do think that the drawing exercise may be a less threatening way for some to express their feelings honestly and directly for him
