Thank you for your observations and comments. Yes, art is an effective tool of communication for the person who stutters and for the viewer. A family could also join in the communication by drawing what the experience of stuttering is like for them. In a symposium, I facilitated a mural done by children and adolescents who stutter and gave the families a chance to view the drawings and images and to draw their responses. It was a moving experience for the participants and seemed to add a dimension they were aware of but did not know how to express. Drawing seems to reveal a part of ourselves that can connect with others in a significant way. Thanks for your awareness of the process.
