i really enjoyed reading the article and i think that stories make a very valuable contribution. as a speech therapist much of my own learning has been from the stories by people who stutter because by its very nature hightlights real issues/ experiences in everyday lives. i work in a context wherein people are of diverse backgrounds and stories have been a very useful way to access understanding of their lives.
The value of story is so powerful that i have carried it forward as a research- i feel that unless we theorise and bring into the formal/ professional domain the issues that really matter we run the risk of not admitting into our professional discourse the issues of real importance- in this way the issues raised could stand on the margins perhaps? harsha
