Dear Michael,

Thank you, thank you for sharing these stories. I am certain, that in my work as an SLP, I have hurt my students by underestimating the emotional baggage that is stuttering. That is, I have likely said things (or failed to say things) during speech therapy sessions that ignored or made light of the emotional struggles in their lives. They say, when the student is ready the teacher is there. As an SLP, I am now finally a ready student of the personal/emotional/real life side of stuttering. God has chosen a teacher for me, though I don't know if he realizes it. I only hope he has great patience with me as I try to learn this stuff. Thank you, Michael, for being an advocate for persons who stutter by taking the initiative to educate those of us who are fluent. We need more people like you in our faces, telling us the truth.

Sincerely, Judy Butler
