Jane,

I just tried to answer this, but seem to have screwed up somehow. I'll try to repeat what I just said. (Should be easy for a stutterer!)

The stories are true.

Congratuations on feigning stuttering. But try to imagine what it's like not to be able to turn it "on" or "off." There might only be embarrassment in a shopping mall while asking directions, but what is the effect during a job interview? or meeting someone of the opposite sex? or when stopped for speeding by a police officer? or any other of life's stressful situations?

Keep up your studies -- and continue to place yourself in your clients' situation. Remember the truism: "Before you can judge me, walk a mile in my shoes."
