Bill,

Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas about helping kids deal with teasing, and learning to respect themselves as the great people they are. I've had great success using many of the techniques you present here and elsewhere.

As a follow-up to your comments to Jennifer, (and to your presentation at NSA this summer) I've been trying out your modification of the prolongation technique with several adults and children recently, and find that they prefer prolonging the first sound of words over a full-word prolongation. One client has decided that he prefers this to any of the other techniques he has tried in the past. The resulting speech sounds so much more natural.

You are a great advocate for both kids and adults who stutter, and I appreciate your continued efforts to encourage SLPs and parents to focus on both the feelings and the speech. You model a good balance.

Thanks,

Lynne
