Question No. 3 from Joseph Lukong of Cameroon:
Have you ever heard of TA? How can you assess it as a cure to stutterring? Last wednesday I laid hands on a book called TA TODAY and I want to use it to organise and teach members of SCAC. Your advice.
Answer from Jaan Pill:
I have heard of TA, if by TA you mean transcendental meditation. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, when I was living in Vancouver, I did a lot of meditation, but not transcendental meditation.
I think meditation is a great thing to do (it can in some cases have many benefits related to health and well being), but I am not aware of any evidence in the research literature that would suggest that it’s a useful way to deal with stuttering.
