ISAD is not recognized by United Nations. However, ISAD is a grass roots effort by people who stutter, professional clinicians and researchers and organziations such as ASHA-Fluency and Fluency Disorder Division, ELSA, IFA & ISA to create a more humane, just and compassionate world for millions of people living with stuttering.

ISAD fosters attitudes and actions whereby individuals living with stuttering and consumer and professional organizations can create an environment- personal, community, country and global- in which people living with stuttering can develop their aspirations and talents.

ISAD activities can be read by clicking on announcements for this year. Or by going to previous Internet threaded discussion Conferences from '98, '99 or '00.

ISAD online threaded discussion conference is now in its fourth year, too.

Other consumer and professional organizations have recognized days. People living with Cancer have "Cancer Survival Day". Or Mental health professionals created" National Depression Screening Day". HOwever, I do not want to stop envisioning a day when United Nations proclaim Oct. 22nd as ISAD.

I think we need to keep abreast of United Nations activities. When the United Nations proclaim International Year for Disabled People or International Year for children with disabilities. We need to align ourselves with other disability organizations.

We live in a world without walls--

Warmly, Michael
