APPENDIX A

QUESTIONNAIRE CONCERNING YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS STUTTERING

The purpose of this questionnaire is to determine your knowledge and attitude concerning stuttering. This questionnaire is part of a study for a research project that is being undertaken by a final-year student in partial fulfillment of the degree Baccalareus in Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of Stellenbosch.

Stuttering is a fluency disorder that involves disruptions in the forward flow of speech. These disruptions occur as repetitions of sounds, syllables, and words, prolongations of sounds, and blockages of airflow. The person who stutters may demonstrate physical tension during a stuttering moment.

Please read all the questions and statements carefully before completing them. Also, please answer all questions as accurately and honestly as possible. This is necessary for me to obtain reliable results. All information will be strictly confidential.

If you have any questions, please contact Cathy Power, the researcher of this project. Tel: (021) 887-4154. Thank you for your co-operation. It is very much appreciated.
