Thank you Bob for a very good article !

There is no longer any doubt, ASHA has let fluency disorders fall thru the crack. And, FD will die as ASHA assumes new responsibilites for other disorders, e.g. autism, swallowing. But, as you say, finding a new place to put it won't be easy. Should we distinguish between developmental vs. acquired/neurogenic stuttering ? I, for one, have never felt that developmental stuttering falls in the province of speech "pathology", and no research to date has proven that stuttering is an indication of a pathological condition. I know many PWS will despise this idea, but maybe the treatment of developmental stuttering should move over to the professional association for psychologists or psychiatrists. Maybe, the training curriculum should move also. Just my opinion.
