When I refer to a "splinter group" I mean a group of SLPs who are interested in stuttering, not some other group of professionals. Just like former (and current) ASHA audiologists formed the AAA, SLPs in ASHA who care about stuttering MAY (and let me emphasize MAY) have to consider the possibility of forming a “splinter group” of SLPs who will take the forefront in helping people who stutter.

I hope this clarifies things.
