Dear Tamika, thanks for your question. Of course, we are interested in the fluency problem in other populations as well. Some populations of the world are studied relatively well (e.g., some of European or American countries) but some populations are studed very badly, or not at all. We tried to study Chinese population because (1) there is virtually nothing on stuttering among them (particularly about the incidence), and (2) it IS the biggest population of the world.
By the way, most of the East Asian countries are studied also very badly (the only exception seems to be a Japanese population). Our study indicates that there MIGHT be a considerably lower incidence in the Chinese population, but the study is in it's infancy only.
