Dear Dr.Sheree Reese: I tried two times to send my e-mail with my review on stuttering to you, but it was sent back to me, I don't know why. Today I " ll e-mail you for 3rd time. Two experts helped me in my recovery, one is Zhang Jinhui who is now about 80 years old, he contributed all his life to the treatment of stutterers. The theory of psychological obstacle, which is discussed in my review, was put forward by zhang jinhui. He created the conception of stuttering disease that is different from stuttering. Another expert is Sun Zongxian, a young psychologist with Master's degree. He taught me the skill to relax and I lost communication with him for many years(maybe he is now in U.S). There are three decisive factors in my recovery from serious stuttering: the hints from the theory of Zhang Jinhui, the skills to relax and my understanding on the pathogenesis of stuttering disease. I must still be in the darkness of everlasting struggle against stuttering without any one of the three factors. After reading your first report entitled "state of stuttering in China" in the Internet, I was very much impressed by your work and your interest in stuttering treatment of China. Thank you for your investigation in China, most of it is true. However, I can not agree to your view that "knowledge about assessment and treatment of stuttering in China are presently in their infancy". I always think that Chinese should do their contribution to the treatment of stuttering, and that they can do. About five years ago I corresponded with a famous speech-language therapist W.H.Perkins(American scholar,Professor Emeritus at the university of Southern California),telling him my success and my views on stuttering. Dr. W.H.Perkins wrote back me several letters,in the letters he highly praised my views on the nature of stuttering and the principles of its treatment .He even wrote:" I agree far more with your views than with those in the mainstream of U.S.research. Dr.William H. Perkins is one of the world's foremost scholars on stuttering, the inventor of DAF(delayed auditory feedback). His approval of my success is also the approval of the "knowledge about assessment and treatment of stuttering in China ". I am glad to take part in the discussion. with best wishes Haiyin
