I don't know who came up with the title for this article, but it fits perfectly! "Shady Trailers, Hats off to Thee!" was a song we sang that I hadn't thought of in nearly 50 years! Bernie, do you remember that song? Did you suggest this title? Judy, do you know more about Shady Trails than you're telling us?

Shady Trailers, Hats off to Thee! Speak, speak, speak with plenty of glee! yada... yada... yada...

and...

We welcome you to Shady Trails, We're mighty glad you're here! We'll set the air reverberating With a mighty cheer! We'll sing you in, We'll sing you out, For you we'll raise a mighty shout! Hail, hail, the gang's all here! And you're welcome to Shady Trails!

and...

Once there was a gal I knew, By the name of Slue Foot Sue, She was chief engineer at the shirt tail factory Down by the riverside view. She had a form, that's all she had, And a shape like a soft shelled crab, Every night she would tussle With her patten leather bustle And the guys all called her Bad! Hey!

(Eat your heart out Jim Abbott!)

and the various fight songs from the U of M and MSU, two schools who loved one another...

Several other songs are only sketchy memories... slippery rocks in the bay... the water's cold today! I can hear the melody but it doesn't translate on my keyboard. Bernie, we're gonna have a blast on October 13th at the Detroit workshop trying to remember all these old camp songs! As memory serves me right, by today's standards, all these songs were pretty G-rated, but I'm sure Bernie remembers some of the bawdier ones. (I never sang any of those, of course... Ha, ha, ha!)

Ah the memories... <smile!>
