Thanks for your question! And sorry to be this late in responding to your question. Life has been crazy in the last several weeks.
In answer to your question, not really. Yes friendships were important, but I never connected with a single other camper who was with me in camp outside of camp. Not a one. <sad face> But I developed into a pretty decent swimmer and always got along with other people pretty well, skills that no doubt I learned at Shady Trails. Also we had "round robins" where we had to get up in front of the entire camp and give a short speech. Today in Toastmasters, I pretty much do the same thing. <smile> So I guess you could say my interest in public speaking began at Shady Trails - but lay dormant for several decades!
