Hi Tina,

Talk to Judy Kuster about Stutt-L and the Stuttering Home Page to possibly find similar camps today. A LOT has changed since the "olden days" and it may well be that the summer camp for stutterers may be a casualty of modern, faster paced times. Eight weeks? Man, who has eight weeks to devote to ANYTHING these days? We have the attention span of a half hour sitcom. Even our wars are measured in HOURS of combat. (Desert Storm lasted 100 hours! That's what is really scary about this terrorist situation. We have no patience for long term actions any more.)

But all that being said, I think there ARE some modern morphs of Shady Trails around somewhere. Bernie and I just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Luck has a lot to do with it.

And speaking of that, good luck to you! Thanks for stopping by.

Russ

PS, Amazingly enough, I met David Daly, the Shady Trails camp director for nine years in the 70's and 80's in Detroit last weekend. He's a great guy and we sang some songs together. Then just two days ago, I met a professor at Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth who was an SLP at Shady Trails who worked for David Daly for a couple of years in the 70's! It truly is a small world! Alas, I still haven't met anyone from the 50's. Either they're all cured or all dead by now... I seem to be the only one left... C'est la vie! <smile>
