I agree with your article. It has been my experience working in the public schools that dismissal from services can sometimes be a motivating factor for some of my students. I have dismissed students in eighth grade with the understanding when they are ready to commit to the principles of therapy that the opportunity would be available to them until the end of highschool. I believe it saved them and the future therapist wasted therapy time. Some students returned and progress was noted. I did request that the highschool therapist follow up with the student several times throughout the year. Parent involvement and consent was always considered.
