Jon went to a parochial school and speech therapy was not easily available and the parents were not too enthused about having therapy through the school. The teacher was a "whole language" advocate and she was reluctant to deal with phonics. In her words, 'children don't enjoy phonics.' Thus I didn't make any attempts to get her involved and the mother, who was quite active in the school setting, agreed with this approach. Thanks for your comments. Pete
