Thanks for your comments Tina. In Michigan many children are seen 20 minutes two times per week, often in a group in the public schools. The trick with stuttering - at least for me - is to find a way to address the needs of the child in a manner that will allow for integrated treatment daily without it being obvious at times. Thus, the tongue twisters, phonemic awareness exercises, reading drills, etc., provide a means to doing many things at once (e.g., slowing Mom's speech down, showing Jon there are different ways to talk, giving him pratice with a variety of speech exercises with the focus on "problems" which are not stuttering, etc.). For other children this may not be the way to go but for Jon it has proven helpful. His mother reported last week that he is sharing in class, his fluency has increased and he has relatively few disfluencies now. He's not out of the woods but things are going better. Thanks for your comments. ps
