Hi Pete- I have psted a question about my first grade on the main page of questions and then just read your article on reading difficulties and stuttering. My son has had a dramatic increase in the severity of his stuttering since entering first grade . He is spending a great deal of time in school phonetically sounding out words and "writing them as they sound" could this be a factor in his sudden increase in stuttering? at times it sounds as if he is repeating words (whe-whe-when-when when when ..ok (stops and breaths) whennn (says it slow as if hes sounding it out)- then usually makes it thru the rest of the sentence without repeating. Any thoughts??? thanks for your time-pam b.
