I am glad that you pointed out that an slp should target the stutterer's emotions first rather than the actual stuttering. If a slp corrects the stutterer's stuttering in a clinical setting, the emotions may still be present in an outside setting. Therefore, the stuttering may continue due to anxiety or fear. It is important to "fix" the emotions in order to carryover them to other settings.
