Hi Judy,

Actually we are looking at "between cultures" as well as "within cultures." But of course if the profiles of the attributes are different cross-culturally, then we may be looking at some complex interactions; maybe not. For example, in the IFA 3rd World Congress paper, we found that "multilingualism" was rated higher in most places than West Virginia (both within and out of the USA) but maybe that says more about the need for second/third languages than it does about different cultural values. There are lots and lots of interesting permutations that may or may not elucidate the results for stuttering.

One more thing I failed to mention earlier. The fact that respondents do not know they are filling out a questionnaire designed to look primarily at stuttering may help us avoid some bias.
