Candace, thanks for your wonderful paper. I was inspired and touched by your account of your life. You are definitely a fighter. I, too, have found that as I grow older, my stuttering plays a less prominent role in my life as far as career, family, and my place in the world. I do have a question though, perhaps a silly one. When you were undergoing your treatment for leukemia, did you still think of yourself as a person who stutters, or did other thoughts occupy your mind?

By the way, I am a cochairman of a National Stuttering Association support group in Royal Oak, Michigan. We meet at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. Perhaps one month you could attend our meeting and share your experiences with us.
