HI Sharon - Thanks for your comments and questions...

First, regarding whether some people benefit more from support groups than others...we do not have data on this yet, but I think it is a reasonable assumption...some people will gravitate toward the groups and others will not, for various reasons. We hope to study this someday, though as you can imagine, it is difficult because it's harder to contact the people who are NOT in the groups. (It's the same with studies of treatment outcomes...you have access to the people in treatment, but not to the ones who are not in treatment).

For your section question, people who are interested in learning more about the NSA can check the website (http://www.nsastutter.org) or call 1-800-364-1677...The website has a list of local chapters... In terms of getting the word out, this is done, I think, by mentioning the NSA as much as possible when we are interviewed about stuttering, in workshops and presentations, in press releases and public service announcements, etc... Jim McClure, a member of this committee and the chair of public relations for the NSA Board of Directors, has some great information that can be used for this purpose.

Thanks again for your interest...I hope this info helps. Scott
