Hi Gunars -- How are you? It's been too long... Thanks for the nice comments and the questions... To answer:

1) Re scientific review: The committee has discussed the issue of whether or not to do a "scientific" review of the proposals or mainly a "human subjects" review and we have determined that we need to be careful about scientific review -- we don't want to be seen as discriminating against some types of research or certain questions...provided that the membership is safe, we are willing to allow various types of research to proceed. THAT SAID, we do regularly make suggestions for how the researchers might improve their studies from a scientific viewpoint.

2) Re the studies we have conducted...Yes -- there is much more information avalable about the studies the committee has conducted...IN fact, manuscript resulting from those studies are currently in review at a refereed journal. I'd be happy to share more information about those with you -- they will be presented at the upcoming ASHA conference in New Orleans, but I'm afraid I haven't put the posters together yet ;-)

Thanks again for the Qs...Take care! Scott
