A Freshman Talent Grant or Transfer Talent Grant may be awarded to an incoming student who meets Minnesota State Mankato admission standards and who plans to enroll as a Theatre & Dance major or plans to participate in theatrical activities. Grants are available to all majors and minors, whether they are planning to concentrate in acting, musical theatre, design/technology, theatre generalist or dance.
Auditions for performers and interviews/portfolio reviews are held twice a year: In the spring in conjunction with BFA auditions (usually the last Saturday of February or first Saturday of March), and the week before classes begin in the fall (usually that Thursday afternoon). Applications may be submitted at any time and will be held until the next regularly scheduled auditions, at which time applicants will be contacted. In addition, performers may be asked to submit a DVD or VHS tape of required audition materials.
Only those who have applied will be considered; final applications may be available for completion at the show auditions held the first day of classes in the fall. It is preferred to have applications well ahead of the auditions so they may be reviewed for completeness.
