The Built Environment and Construction Conference is a gathering of building industry professionals from throughout the region, including residential and commercial contractors, architects, engineers and students, among others. Conference highlights feature informative education sessions for a wide range of industry colleagues, including Geotechnical and GeoThermal topics. The Conference also offers a full day of MN residential contractor continuing education credits, as well as the BEC Conference Expo which provides attendees a chance to visit exhibits that showcase the very latest in building industry products, services and innovations.

With the increasing interest of architects, building owners, and general contractors in sustainable design, green building materials, and LEED certification; this program is designed to provide an overview of the United States Green Building Council, the LEED Green Building Rating System, and the contributions windows can make to LEED certification.

In addition, we explore how the architect’s specification of aluminum, wood, and vinyl window frames affects the environment around us. We’ll discuss sources for raw materials, renewable resources, recycled content, energy consumption and pollution during material extraction and window production, annual energy consumption after building occupancy, and what happens to the window after its useful life is over.
