CLEP Procedures

Registration Procedure

• Contact the MSU Counseling Center 507-389-1455 to schedule a test time and date.
• Complete the Registration-Admission form located on the back of the "Information for Candidates" brochure. This brochure is located in the hall just outside the Counseling Center, 245 CSU. or on-line at collegeboard.com/clep.
• Return your completed form to the Counseling Center along with your non-refundable $25.00  registration fee. Checks should be written to MSU, credit cards are NOT accepted for the service fee.
• Your completed form and registration fee must be received 2 weeks prior to your test date or you may not abe able to complete your schelduled exam. NOTE: Your test time and date will not be confirmed until this step has been completed!
• Your admission ticket, which is a part of the Registration-Admission form, will be returned to you. You must bring this admission ticket, 2 forms of identification, and the $65.00  per test fee on the day of the exam. The fee may be paid by credit card or by check payable to CLEP.

CLEP Fees

• There is a $25.00  non-refundable registration fee payable by check at the time of registration. This fee, along with registration, MUST be received by the Counseling Center a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the scheduled test date. Checks should be payable to MSU.
• CLEP requires a fee of $65.00 per test .  This fee is to be paid on the actual test date and may be paid by credit card or check. All checks for should be made to CLEP.

CLEP Credits

Contact the Registrar's Office (507-389-6266) to determine:

• The number of University credits (if any) you will receive after taking the CLEP exam.
• Your eligibility for CLEP credits. NOTE: any prior course work in the area you test in my impact your CLEP credit eligibility.
• Any limitations on the quantity of CLEP credit you may receive.

All other questions regarding the interpretation of CLEP scores and academic credit should be directed to the Registrar's Office.

CLEP Tests

• CLEP tests are computer-based tests (CBT).
• All tests are 90 minutes in length.
• Most exams are mulitple choice or fill-in questions. Some exams may contain an essay portion.
