HERS Leadership Institute

The Commission on the Status of Women is now accepting applications to attend the HERS Summer Institute. There will be two options offered this year, the first to be held at Bryn Mawr College from June 18 - July 2, 2010. The second will be held at the University of Denver through a series of shorter term meetings. The dates for this include August 1-7, September 9-11, October 23-24, 2010.

  • To Apply:
  • Go to this online HERS link to begin the application process: http://www.hersnet.org/Application.asp
  • Create an account for yourself. Remember your password.
  • On the next page, select the link for either the Bryn Mawr Summer Institute or the University of Denver Institute.
  • Continue through the application process by completing each page and clicking the button at the bottom that says, “Save and Continue to next section”.
  • There are two documents that you can create as a word document separately and upload from your computer: your self-descriptive letter and your resume.
  • When you reach the final page of the application that asks you to enter credit card information to pay for the $75 application fee, DO NOT enter any information, and instead click the button at the bottom that says, “Save and Return to the application home page”. This will take you back to the first instruction page where you will see a chart that shows the sections that you have completed. Under the chart is a link that says, “Click here to print application.” Print your application. You can then log out of the HERS website (you can return to it anytime by logging in with your email and password and choosing “My HERS”.)
  • If you are selected as the MSU representative to attend HERS, we will ask you to return to your application on the HERS website and complete the final official submission steps.
  • Next, submit by hand delivery or intercampus mail: your printed application, self-descriptive letter, resume, and a letter of support from your direct supervisor to:   Elizabeth Lindstrom (Centennial Student Union 218)  by November 19th, 2009. Recommendations will be forwarded to President Davenport.
