The President’s Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) is accepting applications for a representative from Minnesota State University, Mankato to attend one of the annual HERS Institutes for Women. The purpose of the Institutes is to advance women leaders in the middle and executive levels of higher education administration. Applicants for the summer sessions can choose between the Bryn Mawr College Institute or the University of Denver Institute. The academic year applicants attend the Wellesley College Institute.
Three options offered this year:
- HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute: June 22 - July 6 2013
- HERS Denver Summer Institute: July 21-August 4 2013
- HERS Wellesley Institue: October 10-12 2013, November 7-9 2013, February 6-8 2014, March 13-15 2014
To Apply:
- Go to this online HERS link to begin the application process: http://www.hersnet.org/Application.asp
- Create an account for yourself. Remember your password.
- On the next page, select the link which HERS institute date you would like to attend
- Continue through the application process by completing each page and clicking the button at the bottom that says, “Save and Continue to next section”.
- There are two documents that you can create as a word document separately and upload from your computer: your self-descriptive letter and your resume.
- When you reach the final page of the application that asks you to enter credit card information to pay for the $75 application fee, DO NOT enter any information, and instead click the button at the bottom that says, “Save and Return to the application home page”. This will take you back to the first instruction page where you will see a chart that shows the sections that you have completed. Under the chart is a link that says, “Click here to print application.” Print your application. You can then log out of the HERS website (you can return to it anytime by logging in with your email and password and choosing “My HERS”.)
If you are selected as the MSU representative to attend HERS, we will ask you to return to your application on the HERS website and complete the final official submission steps.
Next, submit by hand delivery or intercampus mail: your printed application, self-descriptive letter, resume, and a letter of support from your direct supervisor to:
- Sarah Hagedon, CSU 218D, by January 31st.
President Davenport’s selection will be announced no later than March 21st, 2013
