- Contact potential mentor by phone, email, or in person. ( You can contact and enter into a mentoring relationship with more than one person if you wish.)
- Introduce yourself. Tell the mentor you found them through Mentor Match and are wondering if they are still available to serve as a mentor.
- Arrange a first introductory meeting time and place. It is recommended that this first meeting be brief, perhaps 1/2 hour at the most, and serves as an opportunity for both mentee and mentor to determine if they are a good match for each other (See Suggestions for First Meeting)
- Enjoy your time at the university while you and your partner continue cultivating your mentoring relationship.
- Be open to providing feedback on the Mentor Match project after the first year. Your mentor will be contacted, and will, in turn, ask if you have helpful feedback or an anonymous testimonial to offer (see Assessment).
