Mission

The Asian American & Pacific Islander Affairs Program’s, a component of the Office of Multicultural Affairs under the Office of Institutional Diversity, mission is to ensure recruitment, retention, and the overall educational success of all students, with an emphasis on Asian American & Pacific Islander students.

The goal of the Asian American Affairs Program is to provide Asian American students with support services that are academically and socially beneficial to each individuals during their college experience at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Support Services

  • Academic advising
  • Referral to Universtiy and community services
  • Empower students to engage in campus government, activities
  • Assist students in understanding governing policies, whether they be federal, state, local, University, or department specific
  • Serve as a liaison for students to other University departments that impact their college learning
  • Facilitating programs or assist student groups in their programming event(s)
  • Provide activities, training, and leadership opportunities for students and student groups
  • Provide advising support in the areas of planning, implementation, marketing, and evaluation of their events, programs, and/or services.
  • Provide information and assistance to students and student leaders so that they may represent themselves and their organization’s interests in an effective and credible manner
  • Provide on-going training and support for student and student groups focusing on leadership, skill development, and multicultural competency
  • Assist student groups in obtaining financial assistance through grants or fundraising as well as collaboration with University and community organizations
