There will be presenters discussing a variety of topics including culture, language, history, education, tribal government and others that relate to Native Americans and Alaska Natives. This event is offered in conjunction with Education: KSP 4/590 which may be taken for credit. Classes and individuals are welcome to attend individual sessions at no cost; however if you would like to attend the majority of the conference you must register and pay the conference fee.
The Mah-Kato Mdewakanton Association and Dakota Indian communities of Minnesota and the Dakotas host a traditional Wacipi that attracts American Indian participants and visitors from throughout the United States and Canada.

What began at the turn of the century as an effort to gain a day of recognition for the significant contributions the First Americans made to the establishment and growth of what is now the United States has resulted in the month of November being designated for that purpose.
National Native American & Alaska Native Heritage Month is celebrated to recognize the intertribal cultures and to educate the public about the heritage, history, art and traditions of the First Americans. Watch for activities throughout the month.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday CelebrationThe Mankato area joins the nation in commemorating the life of Dr. King and recognizes local citizens who promote King's philosophy. The evening includes a appetizers, entertainment and awards ceremony.

This conference is nationally recognized. The focus is on African and African-American concerns with emphasis on issues pertaining to the Midwest. This conference is offered in conjunction with Education: 4/590 which may be taken for credit.
The talent ceremony gives students an opportunity to compete for prizes. The king and queen are selected for a one-year reign as representatives of the Pan African Conference.
