group of students College Access Programs (CAP) identify and recruit students who show promise of success. CAP provides an intense transition from high school to college. The program assists students in mastering subject matter, and building and improving basic skills for college success while still in high school, supplemented by a summer residential program.

CAP provides a structured program that addresses multiple concerns of underrepresented students attending Minnesota high schools. Participants develop multicultural knowledge and skills to live effectively in a pluralistic society.

What CAP does:

  • CAP works with underrepresented students of various ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • CAP provides planned activities which address the unique needs of urban and rural underrepresented students.
  • CAP provides after-school college prep seminars with information on financial aid and college admission procedures.
  • CAP can give provisional admittance for high school seniors to Minnesota State University, Mankato.
  • CAP provides year-round advising and tutoring to all participants.
  • CAP maintains a two-year academic performance contract with all of its students.
