The 2012 “Multicultural Affairs Conference: Changing faces of education”, also known as MAC’12, is a collaboration of the four centers in the Multicultural Center—American Indian Affairs, Asian American Affairs, Latino Affairs, and African American Affairs. The goals of the conference are the following: celebrate diversity, to shed light on the anticipated change in Minnesota’s demographic, and provide forums for students, practitioners, professionals, and communities to come together to discuss and address educational and diversity issues, identify and share best practices to serve students of color.
Historically, the affairs and state of American Indians, African Americans, Latinos, and Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in education are being addressed at individual conferences respective to the four centers. Hopefully, this year’s collaboration will established itself into a full-fledged annual conference for years to come.
