Call for Papers and Panel Presentation for PAC 2009

Papers will be accepted that accentuate the theme of the conference . . .

"Understanding and Respecting Diversity in the Pan African Community: Working Towards Unity and Global Peace"

...and address the content of one of the six conference tracks:

  • Health Issues
  • Black Women in Leadership
  • Blacks in Higher Education: Faculty, Staff and Student Recruitment and Retention
  • Blacks in Business
  • Faith Communities and Social Service Agencies
  • Student Leadership Development

All papers should be timed and limited to a 50-minute presentation. Each panel will consist of four panelists, each providing a 10-minute perspective. Each panel will have a respondent and a 20-minute discussion period.

Instructions for Submitting Proposals

Persons interested in submitting papers, panel topics or alternative presentations must adhere to the following specifications:

  1. Paper/panel proposals are to be one page, typed and double-spaced.
  2. Proposals must include a description/abstract of proposal for printing in the conference program.
  3. Work must be cited and credited according to standard academic requirements.
  4. Provide a brief (one-page) vita or biographical sketch and photograph.
  5. Submit two copies of printed material.

Information provided will be used in the conference program should the paper or panel be approved. Papers will be reviewed by a committee for acceptance. Presentations may be combined to facilitate panel discussions.

Please note:

No submissions will be accepted from individuals marketing and/or selling commercial products or consulting services. Instead, exhibit/vendor space is available. Due to budgetary consideration, it is not possible to offer an honorarium or to waive registration fees to program presenters. All presenters will be expected to register and pay appropriate fees. Presenter registration fee for non-students is $120 and for students $80.

All proposals must be received by January 16, 2009.
