Minnesota State University, Mankato enjoys a long history of cultural diversity. Building a more diverse community and promoting cultural exchange are goals of the university. The Office of Multicultural Affairs supports and encourages students to create a better environment for learning. Established on 1970 as the Minority Group Studies Center, the Office of Multicultural Affairs has been a focal point of curriculum development, academic advising and cultural involvement.
Other university offices enhancing diversity include the Office of International Students, Women's Center, Department of Women's Studies, Department of Ethnic Studies, Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Center, and the Office of Student Affairs.
