Beyond the Classroom
Several dance activities and events extend beyond campus, which Minnesota State Mankato Dance students become involved in.
The city of Mankato is located just 80 southwest from one the most thriving and diverse dance communities in the nation. Students also attend professional dance performances presented at major Twin Cities-base venues, including the Walker Arts Center, The Ordway Center for the Performing Art, and Northrup Auditorium. In the winter, students attend the All-State Dance Education Summit in Minneapolis, an all-day event where they take a variety of classes, as well as perform. Each spring, students have the opportunity to attend the American College Dance Festival, which is held each year in the upper Midwest region of the United States. This festival is an extraordinary event for students to dance, performance, and view college dance from our region and will be hosted my Minnesota State Mankato in March 2013. Many of our students are sought after to teach in area studios.
