New Student Placement Auditions: The purpose of the Minnesota State University, Mankato Dance program's placement audition is to determine what level of dance technique you should be in. Placement auditions occur the Friday before classes start each fall.

Please arrive early so you can warm-up. The studio will be open. Make sure you are in your dance attire. Bring ballet slippers, but be able to dance in bare feet for part of the audition. The class will consist of a ballet segment, followed by a modern-based combination, and, ending with a jazz combination. You will not be asked to dance alone; essentially, you are just taking a dance class so we can watch you dance. Immediately following the audition, you will meet with the dance faculty to let you know what level of technique you will be placed in for fall or subsequent semester(s).

At that time we will either confirm the classes you have already registered for, or suggest that you drop/add classes you should be taking. You will be able to add dance technique classes that day. For more information, or if you have general questions, contact Julie Kerr-Berry, Director of Dance, or Daniel Stark, Dance faculty.
