Archaeologists from the American Museum of Natural History and the Denver Museum of Natural History discovered the Folsom point in 1927 near Folsom, New Mexico. This spear point dates to 10 thousand years ago, and it is one of the most important archaeological finds on this continent.

The Folsom point is convex along the edges and like a single flake taken off the point. It is a flint work which is the earliest American art known. The technique used to produce the Folsom point was sophisticated.

The questions about when the first humans arrived in North America was settled with the discovery of the Folsom point which was found in the bones of a bison known to have been extinct 10 thousand years ago. The discovery of the Folsom point is the evidence of early existence of humans in North America as early as the Ice Age.
