levanna point

points.gif (79522 bytes)points.gif (202710 bytes)Levanna points are projectile points characteristic of the Owasco Culture, and are also associated with the Bowmans Brook, Clasons Point and Sebonic Cultures of coastal New York. They are foundmap.jpg (18278 bytes) mainly in the New England area, and are diagnostic of the early Late Woodland Period.

Levapoints.gif (79522 bytes)nna points are shaped like equilateral triangles, and are made of chert. They are 1-3 inches long, with the average point being 1-2 inches. They have a concave base; in some instances this base is almost V-shaped, with barbs at the lateral margins of the base. These points were utilized as arrowheads.
