Benaki Museum Athens, Greece The Benaki Museum is pre-eminent among Greek museums for three main reasons. The first of these is its extensive Greek collections, which precisely define the very nature of Greek civilization in its historical progress from antiquity down to the inter-war period. It is also outstanding on account of the wealth and quality of its many distinct collections such as Islamic Art, Chinese ceramics, Children's Games and Toys, the Photographic and Historical Archive, the Center for the Documentation of Neo-Hellenic Architecture and the Nicos Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas Gallery. Finally, it is exceptional in having been the first Greek Museum whose creation was the vision of a single individual. If you want to browse the site in English click here. 09/22/03
