General  Museums

Jim's Computer Garage (museum) This site has an extensive collection of pictures of computers from the past. It also has information about the history of the computer industry in general and ways that computers have affected us. If you are looking for information about any old computer, or are just curious about the history of computers, this is a good place to visit. 7/7/99

The Museum of Steam power and land drainage in Somerset This museum provides a good description of the history of flooding and draining in the Somerset area. There are good descriptions of the history and geography of the area. There are some pictures and it appears that more will soon be added as currently there is nothing in the "Exhibits" Link. This is an interesting museum that shows a unique part of the history of the Somerset area.

The Tech Museum of Innovation The area that you should look at in this museum is the discover section. It has interactive, online material, while the other sections are meant to give people who are going to be visiting the museum information. There is good information, but the tours would be better if they had people telling you what you are looking at, rather than having to read the tiny printing. This would also be better for kids if they didn't have to read the information, but could just listen to it. 6/29/99

San Diego Aerospace Museum This site has a good overview of the history of aviation. The easiest way to see all of the online content and to see it presented in chronological order is to follow the Exhibit link and then to start on Introduction and just keep clicking on the next buttons. 6/29/99

Museum der Arbeit Much of this museum is only in German. Conception/Idea and Permanent Exhibits are in English. The focus of this museum is industrialization and how industrialization has affected people. Video presentations of some of the information or audio clips describing some of the displays would make this a better site. 6/29/99

inQuiry Almanack My favorite part of this site is the inQuiry Attic. This area has articles about Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison and the Wright Brothers. There aren't very many pictures though. Musing with Mac is the next best section of this museum. 6/30/99

The Steamer William G. Mather Museum This museum is a Great Lakes Bulk Freighter that has been turned into a museum. The site contains a virtual tour that can be taken in two ways, guided as if you were on the tour on the ship or, you can choose the areas you want to see. There is also an extensive photo gallery of the William G. Mather and other ships of the Great Lakes. 6/30/99

The US Airforce Museum There are lots of things to see at this museum. The galleries all have plenty of pictures with two to three paragraph descriptions of what is being shown and the specifications of the item. Their featured exhibits are also good. 7/6/99

Museum of Transportation The virtual tour and the exhibit The Andersons are the best places to go. The virtual tour is a list of old cars with pictures and about a page long description of each car. The Andersons exhibit is about the family that originally collected the cars that are in the museum. 7/8/99
